Working in the Adult Care Sector

Starting a new job can be nerve-racking, especially if you haven’t got any previous experience in the role. When you add in the task of looking after vulnerable adults, this adds a lot more pressure.

A Carer’s role is extremely varied, no two days will be the same. The people you look after will have different issues, which may include mobility, health problems, dementia and loneliness. However, with the right training, mentoring and support from a senior care and management team, the job becomes satisfying and rewarding, knowing you are helping someone to live as safe and independent as possible in their own home.

Donna’s story

Picture of Carer

Donna has recently joined our Home Care team in Maidenhead. She was recommended by a friend who also works as a Carer for Oxford House. Although Donna has never worked in care before, she has quickly settled into the role, she’s developing her skills every day and thoroughly enjoying supporting her clients with daily tasks, looking after their health & wellbeing needs. Donna is continuing her professional development by starting her Level 2 Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship. This will develop her knowledge, skills and understanding, helping her to provide the very best care to her clients.

Donna has recorded a video for us to share, hopefully to inspire others looking to start a career in care who might be a bit nervous to do so.

We hope you enjoy Donna’s video. If you are considering a career in care, please contact our team today.
