Meet Debbie- One Of Our Care Assistants

Before joining Oxford House, I worked as a carer in a Nursing Home providing end of life night duties. I decided to join Oxford House as I had heard good things and I wanted to try a different level of care to further my experience.

My Experience

On the day-to-day activities of my role, I enjoy interacting and building relationships with clients the most. This can range from completing tasks that benefit their day or even conversations on just asking how they are.

This has enabled me to experience some lovely moments of job satisfaction. Over the past year I have been able to not only make a difference to the lives of clients but also build an environment of trust to the point where they feel secure. This is something that motivates me when going into work, knowing clients look forward to my daily visits, usually being greeted with smiles of excitement upon arrival.

Becoming A Carer

Overall, I would recommend becoming a carer at Oxford House. At all times I feel supported in my role, with someone always available to help. In some cases, the work can be hard, but you are rewarded with personal satisfaction for providing care that allows clients to remain in the comfort of their own home.
