Our Involvement
Oxford House Community Care are pleased to announce that we are participating in the ‘local heroes wanted campaign’ alongside Slough Borough Council and other stakeholders across East Berkshire.
This campaign is aimed towards helping the young and older generation in finding new careers and return to employment following the recent pandemic. This is a brilliant opportunity to not only help the community, but also increase the awareness of potential long-term careers available within the care industry.
Here is what our Managing Partner Tony Johnston has to say;
‘’ Adult social care is an industry where young people can forge a fantastic career, with training, support and amazing experience from day one. Many of our service users especially gel with younger members of the team who are so full of energy and enthusiasm.
“We welcome people from all backgrounds, with all kinds of experience. Care can be transformational for people and it is wonderful to see the impact you can make on people’s lives. Very few careers offer this kind of motivation and reward.” ‘’
The Care Industry
With everyone recently inspired by our key workers response in the pandemic, the campaign is aimed towards not only increasing the volume of newcomers to the industry, but also to remove all negative misinterpretations around becoming a care worker. This is an industry that offers young people the chance to create their own pathway and potentially reach senior positions, or experienced workers who can transform skills learned from other sectors to provide compassionate care to clients.
Care work is a job that comes with great responsibility but is also one of the most rewarding in terms of personal satisfaction.
With so many inspiring stories created by staff, we thought we would share a few with you.

Who spent over a decade as a nightclub manager and after COVID-19, decided to join the care industry. At first, he felt out of his comfort zone, but soon realized in return he had given himself a career full of opportunities and enjoyment.
Bethany
A young adult that decided to join the care sector during the pandemic. Who wanted to highlight the support and training received from day one, making her feel not only safe, but an important member of the team.
