Caring for the caregivers

Providing care for a loved one is hard work and not always easy. Our respite care services in Berkshire, Slough, are here to help you. We know how difficult it can be trying to juggle your day-to-day life and also look after your loved one without feeling run down and exhausted. Taking care of yourself is one of the most important, and often one of the most forgotten things.

When your needs are taken care of, the person you care for will benefit too. This is why we offer caregivers and relatives the chance to take some time out, on either a regular basis or just every now and again. Whether you need a small break, want to go on a holiday, or simply just need extra time to complete daily tasks without feeling overwhelmed, our respite services are here to help and support you.

When it comes to respite care, there are a multitude of benefits for your loved one too. Having the opportunity to meet different people and socialise outside of the family provides extra stimulation and excitement in their life.

It’s only natural that you want to know your loved one is in safe hands. That’s why, at Oxford House Community Care, we only employ carers who meet our high standards, and who we are confident will always provide individualised and compassionate care.

Examples of how this support is provided include:

  • Helping in the home, whilst the family is out
  • Supporting a new or inexperienced family carer
  • Giving the carer the opportunity to take a short break

They wait until I tell them that I am ready for them to do what they have to do. To be fair, they are hot on dignity issues.

Mum has been given a new lease of life with the carers… They have encouraged her to go to the Day Centre. She used to be in the house 24 hours a day, every day.
