With the sun shining across England, July was a month of celebration, connection, and care at Oxford House Nursing Home. Our team curated a vibrant calendar of events that brought residents, families, and staff together to enjoy the best of summer. From milestone birthdays to community festivities, the month was filled with joyful moments that captured the heart of our home.
One of the highlights was our annual Summer Fête on 18 July, where residents, families, and staff gathered for an afternoon of laughter, music, and delicious food. The garden was transformed into a lively hub of colour and cheer, with a barbeque offering both vegetarian and meat options, plus a variety of homemade side dishes. We were delighted to welcome Pinky, an entertainer who not only had everyone singing along to beloved favourites but also amazed the crowd with a magic show that left smiles all around. Events like these are at the heart of Oxford House life, bringing people together and creating cherished memories in a warm, familiar setting.

We also celebrated a national moment of pride as England’s women’s football team triumphed in the UEFA Women’s Championship. To mark the occasion, residents and staff came together to decorate the home with flags and bunting, prepare themed sweet treats, and enjoy a soundtrack of empowering music. It was a lively and uplifting day that celebrated both sporting success and the power of community.

At Oxford House, every birthday is special, but Sylvia’s 90th was truly unforgettable. Staff reserved a private room for her and her family to celebrate in style. Surrounded by loved ones, Sylvia spent the morning enjoying cake, conversation, and the warmth of those around her. These personal celebrations reflect what we value most, creating a home where residents feel seen, celebrated, and deeply cared for.

Beyond the festivities, July also underscored our commitment to safety and professional development. At the start of the month, our team completed a First Aid training course, reinforcing our dedication to high standards of care and ensuring all staff remain confident and prepared in emergency situations.
As we look back on this sunny and joyful month, we’re reminded that life at Oxford House is about more than care, it’s about community, connection, and creating meaningful moments every day.
