About Us

Oxford House was built in the first decade of the twentieth century. Originally a vicarage, it was acquired by the Johnston family in the 1970s to house their very large family.

As their children flew the nest, space was created and Teresa, a fully qualified nurse, had the opportunity to develop the home into a residential home for the elderly. This drive was supported by a pressing local shortage of residential care for the elderly.

In 1995 an extension and modernisation were completed in a style and finish sensitive to the building's history. Today, Oxford House is registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide accommodation with nursing care for 34 residents.

The proprietors and nurses at Oxford House understand what an emotional roller coaster it can be finding a new home for a parent or relative. We work with the family throughout, so you are reassured that your loved one is happy, feeling secure and well looked after.

Relatives are encouraged to visit as frequently as they wish. Recognising that staying in one's own home is often preferable, Oxford House also has a long-established community care agency based in Farnham Royal, Buckinghamshire www.oxfordhousecare.com.ohcc

The Johnston family remain proprietors of Oxford House Nursing Home and Oxford House Community Care.
